Welcome to The Sugar Loaves

Hollingbourne’s traditional village pub, come and enjoy a drink with us!

A little bit of history

The Sugar Loaves is a 17th century, Grade II listed inn. Formally known as both ‘Three Sugar Loaves’ and Railway Hotel’ due to it’s proximity to Hollingbourne Train Station.

A Sugarloaf was the usual form in which refined sugar was produced and sold until the late 19th century. The Sugarloaf was also the sign of the grocer, often found outside his premises or in the window. We believe this may be what one side of the building was used for when it was built in the 1600’s.
